Child Development

Prospect Child Development houses three family-oriented programs:

Early InterventionBirth to age three . This state-funded program offers developmental services to infants and toddlers with special needs within the context of the child’s natural environment.

  • Early Intervention services are designed to compliment family strengths and resources.
  • An Early Intervention Specialist completes a comprehensive developmental assessment and works with the family to address each child’s needs.
  • Families and professionals work together to create and monitor family-centered goals.

Benefits:  Teachers visit at home, monthly social events, parent training


Parents As Teachers:  Birth to age five. This is a free educational program for parents offering home visits, fun activities and support groups to Wilson County families. The goal is to increase the child’s school readiness and prepare for school success.

Benefits:  Parent group meetings/free childcare, screenings, resource network, personal training at home


MELD:
 Pre-natal to age five. This is a free parenting support group that receives agency training and coordination.  Experienced parents volunteer to facilitate parent/peer groups at local sites, with free child-care and food. Training materials provided cover health and safety, child development, family management, child guidance and parent development.

Benefits: POSITIVE parenting skills, long-term supportive peer groups, training materials (health, child development, child guidance, family management, parent development), community networking
